Dr. rer. nat. Tatyana Novoyatleva from Justus Liebig University will present the project
"The role of HIF-1 and its regulators p53 and Smyd2 in right ventricular hypertrophy and failure".
This project aims to investigate the role and the interplay of the hypoxia inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) and the tumor suppressor p53 in the transition from adaptive to maladaptive right ventricular (RV) hypertrophy. The impact of knockdown of HIF-1α and its negative regulator p53 in different cells (cardiomyocyte, endothelial cell, fibroblast)-specific will be analyzed. The ultimate goal is to understand the role of HIF1α in critical processes of RV remodeling such as capillarization, myocardial performance and fibrosis, aiming to develop novel treatment strategies.
