Racism and Colonial Amnesia in Germany and the US // Veronika Zablotsky, PhD, UCLA

Grounded in postcolonial and intersectional feminist critiques of European nationalism and colonial amnesia, Dr. Zablotsky will discuss institutional manifestations of structural racism in Germany and draw on critical race theory to compare forms of racialized belonging in Germany and the US. Building on this theoretical framing, her talk -- presented within the scope of Prof. Olson's seminar, "Race/Racism(s)/Resistance" -- will highlight and center the work of activist groups and community organizations that are at the forefront of racial justice struggles in Germany.

Veronika Zablotsky, PhD, is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Sawyer Seminar for Sanctuary Spaces: Reworlding Humanism at the UCLA Luskin Institute on Inequality and Democracy. The lecturer encourages participants to read and watch the following materials in advance:
