Once a year, this event features lectures and workshops, as well as general information for interested high school students and their teachers about studying mathematics and computer science, career opportunities, and professional prospects.

The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, Physics, and Geography at Justus Liebig University in Giessen cordially invites interested high school students and teachers to the “Day of Mathematics.” It will take place again in 2026, specifically
on Thursday, August 20, 2026, from approximately 9:00 a.m. (registration) until approximately 1:15 p.m.
Members of the Institute of Mathematics and the Institute of Computer Science will be presenting information about studying mathematics in Giessen during this (morning) event. Through a number of presentations and several “workshops” on various topics in mathematics and computer science, participants will gain insights into the disciplines, the degree programs, and potential career paths after graduation. In addition, there will be opportunities for informal conversations with students and faculty members.
About two weeks before the actual event, the final program (including summaries of the presentations and workshops) will be announced. However, information and options for “registration” are usually available here a little earlier. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Dr. Gerrit Eichner (by phone or email).
Here we have compiled various directions for getting here. We highly recommend using public transportation, especially since the walk from the train station to the event venue takes only about a quarter of an hour and there are virtually no parking spaces available there.
