After finishing my Masters at the University of Hannover in Moelcular genetics I joined the Julius Wolf institute at the Charite - University of Medicine in Berlin to study bone healing in neurofibromatosis type one animal model. Early 2012, I joined the experimental trauma surgery at the faculty of medicine in Giessen University as a part of the SFB TRR 079 and later further DFG and BMB funded projects. However, to realize my visions and overcome obstacles I recruited an interdisciplinary team of scientists to cover microscopy, molecular biology, chemistry, bioinformatics, and cell biology. In this short period, the team developed histological protocols to accelerate and improve sample preparation and enhance single – sample analysis for light and electron microscopy. We developed semi-automated plugins tailored to our specific histological stains, generated two transgenic rat models and started a core biomechanical laboratory.
