Modularized programmes of study

This programme combines either two major subjects, or one major and two minor subjects. The first major subject must be chosen from the courses as offered by the Faculty 05, whereas the second major or any of the minor subjects can also be chosen from the courses as offered by the Faculties 03 and 04 respectively (SLK).

The programme integrates the scholarly study of the theatre with the study of artistic practices in the theatre, and the arts related to it. Note: there are specific requirements concerning both the application for, and admission to the programme.


 

Students will be introduced to scientific concepts of foreign language teaching. The programme combines one modern foreign language as major subject with another modern foreign language as well as foreign language teaching as two minor subjects. Students will have to pass an internship within the context of modern foreign language teaching, and will have to spend some time studying abroad as well.

The programme combines one modern foreign language as major subject with another modern foreign language and economics as two minor subjects. The programme builds on the equally named BA. It combines one major with a minor subject, or one major subject with two small minor subjects which have to be chosen from the courses offered by the Faculty 05. The programme provides students with in-depth subject specific knowledge of and methodological expertise in the chosen disciplines.

Similar to the equally named B.A., this programme combines one modern foreign language as major subject with another modern foreign language, and foreign language teaching as two small minor subjects. The programme enhances students' knowledge of and methodological expertise in two modern foreign languages, literatures and cultures as well as foster advanced skills in teaching foreign languages.

Like its namesake at B.A.-level, the programme combines one modern foreign language as major subject with another modern foreign language and economics as two small minor subjects. The programme advances students' knowledge and understanding of theories, concepts and methods in the chosen subjects.

The programme integrates education in language technology, especially digital media and e-learning, with training in Teaching Foreign Languages.

This M.A. study programme introduces students to the research profile of linguistics at Giessen university. It promotes a research-oriented focus in two or three philological disciplines.

The cross-faculty M.A programme is conducted by the Gießen Center for Eastern European Studies (GiZo). Some of the main features are interdisciplinary studies, internationality and applied research in order to enhance students' interdisciplinary knowledge as well as cultural and methodological compentences.

The programme enhances and advances students' knowledge and understanding of, and qualifications in, both theoretical concepts of the theatre and the practices of the performative arts. During the second year, students may choose either of the two areas to specialize in.

Prerequisites for studying the programme are either a higher education degree in the arts, or an adequate professional qualification followed by a number of years of professional experience. The programme is designed for students who have already engaged actively and intensively with dance, movement, choreography and performance, and who can prove relevant artistic and professional experience.

This study programme aims to impart adcanved linguistics, literary and cultural knowledge and specific didactic knowledge and skillsin the field of academic methodology in the ANglophone subjects studied. The intention is to equip students with the skills needed for the independent acquisition, implementation and critical appraisal of models and theories. Knowledge of English is required for all subjects in the M.A. Anglophone Studies.
