Department of Sports Science
At JLU’s Institute of Sport Science, approximately 1,500 students are currently enrolled in a range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. Teaching and research are carried out by a multidisciplinary team comprising five professorships, which study human movement, physical activity, and sport from pedagogical, physiological, social, and psychological perspectives. Together, these perspectives contribute to a comprehensive understanding of human movement as a biological, psychological, social, and cultural phenomenon. The Institute combines high-quality teaching with empirical research on movement, health, performance, learning, and participation, addressing questions that are relevant both within sport science and for society more broadly.
