Alicia Schweizer studied at the University of Leipzig from 2014 to 2020 and is currently working part-time on her dissertation under the supervision of Professor Dr. Stephanie Krämer. In her dissertation project titled "Investigation of Stereotypies in the Mongolian Gerbil (Meriones unguiculatus) – A Comparative Analysis of Housing Conditions in Laboratory and Private Settings," she examines the relationships between housing conditions and the development of stereotypical behaviors in gerbils. The aim of her research is to develop scientifically grounded recommendations for species-appropriate care, particularly for laboratory animal facilities. She looks forward to collaborating with experts to expand knowledge about the optimal care of gerbils and to sustainably improve the living conditions of these animals.
