Sending files
What is the goal: You want to exchange files. The size and the recipient group is completely variable. Instead of exchanging files via e-mail, it is better to use the service of Hessenbox.
This works from any computer or smartphone. You and the recipients do not have to be in the JLU network.
Introduction
Hessenbox is a file sharing and file storage service. As a JLU member, you have 30 GB or 100 GB of storage space available.
The easiest way to share files is via link; however, Hessenbox also offers other options.
We will describe the easiest and fastest way here.
Step 1: Login
Call up this Internet page in a browser of your choice: https://jlubox.uni-giessen.de
Enter your access data and click on [Log in].
Step 2 (optional): Create folder
For the purposes of this example, we will create a new folder. You can also choose an already existing folder:
To do so, click on the plus icon (1) and then on [Create folder] (2), as shown in the picture above.
Enter a name:
Click on [OK].
Step 3: Upload file
Open a pre-existing or newly created folder.
Click on the plus symbol (1) and then on [Upload file] (2):
Then select the file by clicking on [Add file].
A window opens; here, you select the file that you’d like to upload.
What this window looks like depends on your operating system (Windows, macOS, Android, iPhone) and browser. Select the file as the dialog tells you.
The amount of time necessary to upload your file depends on the file size.
(It is possible that uploading very large files - such as files larger than 1 GB in size - might not be possible via your browser. In that case, please use the client.)
When the file is successfully uploaded, click [Close]:
Step 4: Get link
For the file you want to exchange, select "Share":
A new window opens. Here, click on [Create link]:
Now, click [Copy to clipboard]:
Step 5: Send the link
With the link now copied to your clipboard, you can now send it to the recipient(s) in any way you want. This can be JLU members, but can also be external.
The link also works outside the JLU network.
For example, you can write an e-mail and paste the link in the message body.
Step 6 (optional): Delete file or link
If you do not need the file anymore, delete it. To do this, click on the file you want to delete. You will then see a selection menu with the option [Delete]:
You can also delete the link again in the window "Share".
