KWI EssenThe Institute for Advanced Study in the Humanities (KWI) in Essen is an interdisciplinary research institute for the humanities in the tradition of international advanced study institutes. The KWI promotes research and its excellence, the development of research, and intercultural dialogue and exchange. The institute functions as an inter-university association of the Ruhr-Universität Bochum, the TU Dortmund University, and The University of Duisburg-Essen and works closely with the academics of these universities and numerous national and international partners. 

 

The ZMI cooperated with the KWI on the project Interactive Science (German only). The former director of the KWI, Prof. Dr. Claus Leggewie, is a founding member and the first holder of the Ludwig Börne professorship.
