Relief fund of the Central Hesse universities and the Central Hesse Research Campus (FCMH)
Joint call for students, doctoral candidates and researchers from Ukraine with links to Philipps-Universität Marburg (UMR), Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen (JLU) or Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM)
- Objective
The universities in Central Hessen support their Ukrainian partner institutions and provide short-term funding for students, doctoral candidates and academics from Ukraine via an aid fund. The aid fund provides short-term funding for members of the partner institutions and academic partners of the Central Hessian universities for stays in Giessen or Marburg.
- Funding period
The funding is initially available for a short-term period of up to six months and serves to bridge the gap until the German Federal Government's funding programs begin.
- Funding amount
The amount of funding depends on the status of the person receiving funding:
- Students: 1,000 euros per month
- Doctoral candidates: 1,200 euros per month
- Researchers: between 1,500 and 2,500 euros per month, plus 250 euros per month family allowance if applicable
- Target group and funding requirements
Funding can be applied for by students, doctoral candidates and academics from Ukraine who have a connection or affiliation with one of the universities in Central Hessen. This includes the following groups:
- Students or doctoral candidates at universities in Central Hessen with Ukrainian citizenship who are in financial need due to the current situation;
- SStudents or doctoral candidates who have fled Ukraine and will continue their studies/doctorate at one of the universities in Central Hessen;
- Refugee academics from Ukrainian cooperation partners of the Central Hessian universities or with academic contacts at one of the Central Hessian universitie
- Application procedure
Applications are usually submitted by the academic contact person at the respective university in Central Hessen. The application for funding is made in writing and includes the following information in particular:
- Information on the person proposed for funding
- Information on the connection with the academic contact person (usually the applicant)
- Type of intended connection to the Central Hessian university or research campus and integration perspective
- If available: further funding prospects (e.g. AvH, DAAD, HessenFonds)
- Ukrainian students are invited to apply directly (even without an academic contact person).
