The structure of the two courses of study "Literatures of the Ancient World (Greek/Latin Philology)" and "Historic and Present Visual Cultures: Classical Archaeology/History of Art" combines one major subject and two ancillary subjects within the two subject areas. 50 CP are planned for the major subject and 20 CP for each of the ancillary subjects. Within the subject areas one of the subjects is studied as the major subject and the other one as an ancillary subject. In all cases the second ancillary subject compulsively consists of an interdisciplinary element of study. This structure guarantees, on the one hand, a Master training with a clear major element and at the same time, at the methodological level, an integrated trans-disciplinary perspective and a thematic focus, which is concerned with the ancient world and questions about its - for the occidental identity constitutive - further existence. In the process of the conceptualisation of the courses of study the greatest possible compatibility was generally taken into account. An opening up of the study program in the direction of a multi-subject Master`s course with qualification in separate major and minor subjects with regard to the single subject areas is possible, whereby the two ancillary subjects, each of 20 CP, must be replaced with a minor subject element of 40 CP (analogous to the so-called “great minor subject” of the current multi-subject BA of Faculty 04). Apart from this, after consultation and agreement of the advisory council, it is possible to replace individual courses, in exceptional cases also modules, from thematically connected areas. |
