In particular, GreenDairy investigates the impact of two intensity levels of organic dairy production systems linked to the value chains milk, meat and plant-based human food. Cattle farming in a mixed farming system (livestock and crop production) is considered as one of the possible solutions for closing the disconnected material and nutrient cycles in agriculture.
Yet there is a lack of knowledge about the effects of different levels of intensity of such production systems on ecology, economy and animal welfare. GreenDairy will investigate these effects based on a unique and state of the art dairy unit.
We are currently preparing the project, organising the infrastructure and taking all relevant measures to ensure a successful kick-off in January 2022. In the course of this work, various project positions have been advertised.
