Teaching
This series of events on applied statistics using the (free) open-source software R consists of the following modules, each building on the previous one:
- R1: Fundamentals of Data Analysis with R
- R2: Statistics and Simulations with R
- R3: Linear Models with R: Regression and Analysis of Variance
- R4: Selected Statistical Methods Using R
The cycle begins each summer semester with R1, which means that two cycles—one year apart—are always running in parallel. R1 and R2 are modules offered in the bachelor’s programs in Mathematics, Data Science, Applied Physics, and Applied Computer Science, as well as in the master’s program in Data Analytics, among others. R3 and R4 are modules offered primarily in the master’s programs in Mathematics and Data Science. (They have also proven to be of interest to students from other disciplines.)
Below are links to the lecture notes for three versions of the course series mentioned above. These include the most recent completed four-semester series and the two currently ongoing—and therefore incomplete—series. As a rule, only minor updates have been made from one series to the next. Please feel free to email me (gerrit.eichner) with any issues regarding downloads, errors in the lecture notes, or general feedback.
