Research interests
My research interests focusses on the multiple functions of cultural landscapes and the impact of different land management options on the capacity of ecosystems service provision. The relationship of human decision-making on resulting land use, impact on biodiversity and ecosystem services are a matter of particular interest. Within the dissertation project in the “JAGUAR-project” I am dealing with spatial explicit soil and hydrological models in order to quantify storage and fluxes of key components of biogeochemical processes that determine to a large extent provisioning and regulating ecosystem services. The study is conducted in the cultural landscapes Wetterau and Vogelsberg in Hesse, Germany. The overarching aim of the project is to determine land management options to optimize sustainable service provision and to communicate results to stakeholders.
