Setup with the geteduroam app for Linux

Requirements

  • For the following steps, you must be within the Wi-Fi range of JLU or another institution that offers the eduroam Wi-Fi network.
  • You have the access data for your university account.
  • Operating system: Linux should be up to date, i.e. all updates should be installed.
  • Drivers: You should ensure that the latest drivers for the WLAN adapter are installed.

Setting up an eduroam connection

Note: The images shown here may differ on your device.

  • Download the geteduroam app from the developer's website.
  • Open the app and select Justus Liebig University Giessen under Organisation.

 

Auswählen der Organisation

 

  • Enter the user name (J-ID, G-ID, S-ID) and password.

    • username@uni-giessen.de
    • Important:
      • In order to be able to connect to other locations that offer eduroam using the established connection (eduroam profile), the suffix
               @uni-giessen.de
        must be specified when setting up eduroam.
      • Please ensure that no spaces are added to the information!

  • Click Add Profile to complete the installation.
