With a history of more than 400 years, the University of Giessen is one of the oldest in Europe. Founded in 1607, the Justus-Liebig-University Giessen is an internationally recognized institution in research and teaching with about 28,000 students and more than 5,600 members of staff. It is the second largest university in the State of Hesse. Students can choose from a wide range of subjects and courses offered by eleven faculties. The University of Giessen places great emphasis on being truly international.
