Development, Diversity and Evolution of Animals
Research and teaching in the group of Prof. Dr. Prpic-Schäper focus on animal diversity and evolution. One focus of our work is research into the evolution of genetic and molecular mechanisms that play an important role in development and the formation of size and shape (morphogenesis). Our research uses arthropods as model systems, because they are the most species-rich animal phylum on our planet and have achieved an unsurpassed diversity of morphology and physiology.
