Ich bin Historiker der visuellen Kultur und Doktorand am International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) in Gießen. Nach meinem Bachelor-Abschluss am University College London zog ich nach Deutschland, um ein interdisziplinäres Masterstudium in Curatorial Studies an der Goethe-Universität Frankfurt und der Städelschule zu absolvieren.
Mein besonderes Interesse gilt Formen des Austauschs und der gemeinsamen Wissensproduktion mit einem breiten Publikum. Im Laufe der Jahre konnte ich vielfältige Erfahrungen in Museen sammeln, darunter im Senckenberg Naturmuseum, in den Universitätssammlungen Frankfurt sowie im Stadtmuseum Berlin.
In meiner Dissertation, betreut von Dr. Claudia Hattendorff und Dr. Mechthild Fend, untersuche ich die Rolle von Printmedien im Kontext des Insektensammelns als wissenschaftliche Praxis und Freizeitbeschäftigung ca. 1900. Ich argumentiere, dass populäre Insektenbestimmungsbücher dieser Zeit ein zentrales Medium darstellen, um heutige Beziehungen zur Insektenwelt zu verstehen. Gleichzeitig bieten sie einen produktiven Zugang, um die Verflechtungen von Umweltgeschichte, visueller Kultur, Kolonialgeschichte und Wissenschaftsgeschichte zu beleuchten.
Weitere Forschungsschwerpunkte umfassen die visuellen Kulturen des Konsumkapitalismus und des Umweltaktivismus sowie die Rolle von Museen in der kollektiven Erinnerung an das sechste Massenaussterben.
