Short Bio


Björn Weeser manages the SDGnexus Network – a global community of universities, research centers, and stakeholders committed to promoting the Agenda 2030 for sustainable development. As part of the DAAD “Higher Education Excellence in Development Cooperation – exceed” program the SDGnexus Network aims to strengthen higher education to facilitate the development of effective and innovative contributions to achieving the sustainable development goals (SDGs) of the United Nations.

He holds a doctoral degree in Hydrology and possesses academic backgrounds in both Environmental Management and Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on tropical catchments, specifically integrating hydrogeochemical modeling with crowdsourced measurements, geospatial data analysis, and water resource monitoring.

In 2021, he and Dr Suzanne Jacobs won the €50,000 Water Monitoring Prize 2020 of the Dr Erich Ritter Foundation and the Water Science Alliance.
