Teaching Position

Basic module (compulsory)

You will take three courses in two semesters, including one lecture and two introductory seminars. You will receive proof of performance in both proseminars, the third event is the lecture, which then only needs to be “passed”. Each proof of performance counts for 50%. For further information see module regulations.

Advanced module (compulsory elective)

This consists of a lecture and a seminar. The lecture only takes place in the winter semester, so the module can only be started in the winter semester. Half of the students can get a seminar place in the winter (by lottery), and the seminar place (not to be confused with the desired seminar at a desired time of day) in the summer is then secured. Each proof of performance counts for 50%. For further information see module regulations.

Notes on the process 1. State examination for teaching in the basic science of sociology

  • You only register for the first state examination at the Office for Teacher
  • You do not have to look for an examiner at the Institute of Sociology; this will be assigned to you by the Hessian Teachers' Academy.
  • Once you have met your examiner, it is best to immediately look for their office hours to either discuss the topics for the oral exam or take care of the exam
  • Literature that you need to explore with your respective examiner has been provided in each case.
