International

A stay abroad is more than just a semester away from home – it is a living part of Slavic studies. You will deepen your language skills, experience local cultures and gain valuable intercultural experience. These skills are not only an asset to your studies, but also make you attractive on the international job market.

The Slavic Studies department in Giessen has an extensive network of international contacts and agreements that enable a wide range of activities abroad. The institute maintains partnerships with universities in Lódź (since 1978) and Kyiv (since 2022) as well as various Erasmus agreements that facilitate lively student and lecturer exchanges. In addition, the Institute of Slavic Studies organises regular excursions abroad and language courses abroad. Thanks to its international contacts and links to the Giessen Centre for Eastern Europe (GiZo), the institute's staff are also involved in international projects, conferences, workshops and summer schools for doctoral students.

All important information on studying abroad can also be found on the FB05 website. (German only)
