Frankfurt Scale for the Assessment of Selective Mutism (FSSM)

The Frankfurt Scale for the Assessment of Selective Mutism (FSSM) was developed by Dr. Angelika Gensthaler (Clinic for Psychiatry, Psychosomatics and Psychotherapy of Childhood and Adolescence, Goethe University Frankfurt). The copyright for any use belongs to Dr. Angelika Gensthaler and Prof. Dr. Christina Schwenck (Department of Special Needs Education and Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, Justus Liebig University Gießen).

The FSSM is available in three versions for preschool children aged 3-7 (FSSM 3-7), pupils aged 6-11 (FSSM 6-11) and adolescents aged 12-18 (FSSM 12-18). The manual as well as the scientific publication for the validation of the methods (Gensthaler, A., Dieter, J., Raisig, S., Hartmann, B., Ligges, M., Kaess, M., Freitag, C. M. & Schwenck, C. (2018). There are a number of authorized translations of the FSSM that are also available for download. All translations are copyrighted by Dr. Angelika Gensthaler and Prof. Dr. Christina Schwenck.
