Research at the Intersection of Genetics and Plant Protection

The Chair of Crop Resistance and Tolerance investigates how crops respond to various stress factors—including those caused by insects, bacteria, fungi, and viruses (biotic) as well as extreme temperatures and water and nutrient deficiencies (abiotic). By unraveling the underlying phytopathological and physiological mechanisms and their genetic basis, we are making an important contribution to the development of more resilient crops and, thereby, to food security.
