While the concept of identity is very prominent in the study of culture, it also plays an important role in the formation and self-understanding of future teachers in higher education. Among the questions we want to explore in this course are:
- How do I understand my role as a teacher?
- What makes a „good“ teacher?
- Why do relationships play an important role in the classroom?
- How do I initiate effective reflection processes, moving from the concrete to the abstract?
Following up on this, the course is designed to reflect upon the multifaceted roles that shape and define social interaction and communicative exchange in higher education. Taking factors of communicative strategies, discourse management, responsiveness, and feedback culture into account, we will concern ourselves with prototypical scenarios and aspects of criteria-driven reflection. Theses insights, in alignment with educational goals and strategies for task formulation, will then be used as a starting point to apply abstract concepts to concrete session planning.
Focus: English Medium / Cultural Studies / Literary Theory
