• Interest in the health-promoting properties of plant bioactives with a focus on non-communicable diseases (NCDs), immune function and ageing
• Providing test systems (Drosophila melanogaster/ cell culture) for health parameters (e.g. type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, under-/overnutrition)
• Providing detection systems for stable isotopes (Interdisciplinary Method Platform)
• Focusing mainly on the following sustainable development goals (SDGs): 2 (Zero Hunger), 3 (Good Health & Wellbeing), 5 (Gender Equality)

Both represent increasing problems (both, in industrialized and developing countries) resulting in economic problems of societies because of the associated decline in the performance of a population/increasing pressure on social systems.
