We are pleased to announce the publication of a new research article, "Agroecological sustainability of traditional green leafy vegetable value chains in central Uganda: a supply-side perspective", authored by Robert Asiimwe, Irmgard Jordan, Gudrun Keding, Michael Frei, Emmanuel Donkor, and Ramona Teuber. Published in Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems (June 2026), this research provides an in-depth analysis of how traditional and non-traditional green leafy vegetable value chains in central Uganda align with agroecological principles, highlighting both the opportunities and challenges for sustainable food systems in the region. This study led by Robert Asiimwe is an excellent example of the interdisciplinary work with contributions from the ZNE researchers in the areas of agricultural and food market analysis, agronomy and crop physiology, and international food security.
The study took place within the framework of the Horizon Europe project HealthyDiets4Africa and is funded by the European Union.
