Opening Ceremony
The center officially opened on December 16, 2022.
During the small ceremony Prof. Dr. Joybrato Mukherjee, president of the Justus-Liebig Universität explained „The newly established Center for Sustainable Food Systems will make a significant contribution to existentially important social, economic, and environmental issues“, and expressed his belief „I am convinced that the ZNE, as an interdisciplinary research platform, will have an impact far beyond the borders of the JLU.“
Prof. Dr. Klaus Eder, Dean of the faculty 09 – Agricultural Sciences, Nutritional Sciences, and Environmental Management, addressed the need for networking: „Securing the long-term nutrition of the world's population from the point of view of sustainability is such an important and complex task that all departments and centers are invited to participate and contribute new impulses in the ZNE“
