Resource Soil is at risk - ZNE-Contribution in AGRA-Europe
Prof Dr Andreas Gattinger and Prof Dr Ramona Teuber commented on sustainable agri-food systems with the standpoint under the topic ‘Resource Soil is at risk’. The article appeared in AGRA Europe, a news service that reports on important developments in the agriculture and food industry.
‘Multifunctional agricultural and food systems must be ecologically, economically and socially sustainable,’ say Gattinger and Teuber. Soil has a special role to play here. In order to keep intergenerational goals in mind, agricultural interests must be taken into account in settlement and infrastructure development. Sustainable agriculture and food production must be promoted more strongly. Teuber and Gattinger emphasise that the conversion of livestock farming should go beyond simply building stables. Measures to diversify agricultural and food systems should be supported and the taxation of food could also politically promote a plant-based diet.
