Duration of Studies

  • 4 semesters - 120 Credit Points (CP)

Composition of the study programme

The study programme is composed of 20 modules:
  • 8 core (compulsory) modules (6 CP each)
  • 8 profile (elective) modules (6 CP each)
  • a written Master's thesis (equivalent to 4 modules)
Half of the course modules are compulsory (core modules), the other half of the course modules can be chosen from the entire range of courses offered by the department and partly from other departments of JLU Giessen (profile modules).
Specialisation is possible by choosing the profile modules. The degree programme is successfully completed when all modules have been passed.

The core modules (compulsory modules) are:
  • Applied Econometrics
  • Corporate Communication
  • Organisational design in the agricultural and food industry
  • Process technology in food and service enterprises
  • International agricultural and food policy
  • Corporate management in the agricultural and food sector
  • Food quality: coordination, decision-making and institution
  • Market theory

Master's thesis

With the Master's thesis students can demonstrate their ability to work independently on a concrete, delimited topic within a limited period of time.
