Teaching Futures 2025 – Partners in Progress – Perspectives on Higher Education in Transition

On May 22 and 23, 2025, NIDIT invites you to the event Teaching Futures 2025, held under the guiding theme “Partners in Progress.” The focus will be on future-oriented teaching concepts, international collaboration, and the role of future skills in higher education.

The event opens on May 22 with a keynote by PD Dr. Malte Persike, Head of the Center for Teaching and Learning Services at RWTH Aachen University. In his address, he highlights the importance of excellent teaching for institutional development and outlines how participatory change can help anchor future skills sustainably. The program on the first day also includes a series of impulse talks addressing key future topics in higher education. Discussions will cover, among others, approaches to student participation, the use of artificial intelligence in teaching, and the potential of immersive technologies. The formats offer opportunities for exchange on innovative developments and new perspectives for shaping teaching and learning.

The digital event day on May 23 is dedicated to the internationalization of higher education. Dr. Aliya Assubayeva from Nazarbayev University (Kazakhstan) will open the day with her keynote “Bridging Borders in Water Education and Building International Teaching Partnerships.” Drawing on her work in Germany, Uganda, and Kazakhstan, she will discuss how interdisciplinary teaching, digital formats, and global partnerships can transform water sciences.

Another contribution will come from Hubertus Weyer of RheinMain University of Applied Sciences. In his talk “COILs and Co-Teaching: The Internationalization of Future Skills, Language Skills, and Subject-Specific Teaching and Learning,” he will present results from international cooperation projects implemented at the Wiesbaden Business School.

The program will be complemented by a digital poster call. Instructors, students, and interested individuals are invited to present successful partnership projects in higher education. The submission deadline for contributions is May 11, 2025.
