Research

Our research group’s work is closely linked to the GSI Helmholtz Centre for Heavy Ion Research and the associated FAIR project, which is currently under construction and will enable a wide range of scientific discoveries. The GSI is already home to the HADES experiment, as well as the mini-CBM (mCBM) experiment, which was designed as a prototype for the CBM experiment. Our research group is working on a wide variety of aspects of the experiment.

From the design of new sub-detectors with detailed feasibility studies of the signals to be measured, through the construction and assembly of the detector, the programming of the readout electronics and experiment control, to data analysis and the application of artificial intelligence, every member of the research group can contribute their strengths and also gain insight into areas of work that are less familiar to them.

CBM

CBM is the future experiment through which we aim to study the QCD phase diagram at moderate temperatures but very high baryon density as part of the FAIR project.

HADES

The HADES experiment enables the study of hadron properties in nuclear matter through heavy-ion collisions at GSI.

RICH detectors

Ring Imaging CHerenkov (RICH)  detectors are used to identify electrons in particle detectors, such as the CBM or HADES experiment.
