Abstract: in this talk, we will discuss the N-vortex problem on the surface. After an introduction on the problem formulation and a brief review of some results for the fixed points and periodic orbits on special surfaces, we will study the existence of periodic orbits of the N-vortex problem on general closed Riemannian surfaces, as an attempt to see how the geometric properties of the underlying surface could impact the dynamic behaviour of such a system.
