Proseminar

Module description

The proseminar is designed to prepare you for your bachelor's thesis. It focuses on the independent collection, evaluation and interpretation of scientific results, as well as on the formulation of a scientific paper, the argumentative defense of subject-related positions and problem solving. Furthermore, you will come into personal contact with the academic staff as well as the professor and exchange ideas about problem areas and solutions in the field you chose to cover.

The main components of this module are typically a written proseminar paper and a presentation. Depending on the number of participants, the course will take place weekly or as a block event during the lecture period with compulsory attendance. Most of the literature is in English. The main topic covered in the seminar will be announced before the respective registration deadline.

The participation requirement for the proseminar at the Chair of International Economics is solely the completion of the orientation phase. Instructions on how to register for the proseminar can be found on the website of the examination office.

Summer semester 2023: "Climate Change and Migration"

As part of the proseminar, participants will write a seminar paper as well as give a presentation, with the underlying literature being in English. In addition to regular sessions, the proseminar also includes a session on scientific work offered by the chair. The sessions are divided into several block dates during the lecture period of the summer semester 2023. General information can be found here.

More details about the proseminar schedule, the composition of the module grade, etc. will be announced via Stud.IP (you will be invited to the respective group after successfully applying for a proseminar place) or during the kickoff session.

You can find the guide for scientific works as well as the cover sheet template here.
