Theses

We look forward to welcoming you to our research group to work on a bachelor’s, master’s, exam, or doctoral thesis in experimental physics—specifically, detector physics, data analysis, and Monte Carlo simulations. Our broad research area allows for a wide variety of topics and areas of focus. The topic of your individual thesis will be determined together during a personal meeting. This allows us to address your personal strengths while also identifying a topic that is relevant and current to our research. Depending on the topic, collaborations with research groups at the Institute for Theoretical Physics are also possible.

In general, our research group offers opportunities for both analytical work—which primarily involves programming—and practical laboratory projects.

Completed bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral theses can be viewed on the following pages:

Project as part of the F-internship (F-Praktikum) for bachelor's students

We also offer a project as part of the F-internship for undergraduate physics students, which can be used to substitute four lab experiments. In this project, the resonance of a neutral, short-lived kaon (K0s) is reconstructed using its decay into two charged pions. This is an analytical project that provides an introduction to data analysis using the HADES experiment. The project is based on a set of experimental instructions, which guides students through the analysis using code blocks. The structure of the project allows even beginners in programming to participate in the internship project after a brief training period.

If you're interested, we look forward to hearing from you and getting to know you and our research group!
