Chair of Environmental Accounting
Welcome to the Chair of Environmental Accounting!
At the Chair of Environmental Accounting, we focus on quantifying material flows and assessing the environmental impacts of human-made systems—ranging from processes and technologies to product systems. The goal of our research is to identify sustainable and resource-efficient solutions and to make scientifically sound contributions to the transition toward sustainability.
Our work centers on system-analytical methods such as material flow analysis (MFA), life cycle assessment (LCA), and input-output analysis (IOA). We place particular emphasis on further developing these approaches toward prospective environmental assessment. Thematically, we focus on innovative product systems, particularly bio-based and circular systems that can contribute to a sustainable economy.
