#4 Labs for Innovative Teaching

 

 

THE LABS FOR INNOVATIVE TEACHING

Only when there is a willingness to be more flexible, to try things out, to make mistakes, and to work together without hierarchies when dealing with innovative technologies we can contribute to a more sustainable, international, and qualitative higher education teaching that is ready for the future. We would like to offer the possibility to use virtual reality, augmented reality and hybrid teaching for your own teaching, to experiment and to identify the challenges as well as the opportunities of innovative technologies for your own teaching concept. We see ourselves as a meeting place where teaching staff and tutors are welcome, regardless of their previous knowledge.

The concept of the Open Lab is similar to that of a Makerspace or a workshop where you can work for free. The doors are open during the open lab hours and the team is available to come by, let us show you the headsets, ask questions or work on the workstations. We are always there for you and pleased to help.

The Lab in Gießen offers a number of different VR and AR headsets that can be borrowed.

VR-Mobile Experience

Book the VR mobile experience for your seminar, your lecture or your tutorium. The team brings everything, sets up the technology and shows the possibilities of virtual reality.



Workstations

The powerful gaming PCs are already equipped with software (e.g. Unity, Blender, Unreal Engine, 3Spin Learning) for developing virtual applications and much more. You can work at the workplaces during open lab hours.

Workstations

The Lab in Marburg cooperates with the XSpace GameLab of the Institute of Media Studies, located in the university library marburg. This makes it possible for stationary applications such as the VR Treadmill to be available on the premises of the XSpace GameLab.

 

COMMONALITIES

Further Education Training

The implementation of Virtual Reality (VR) in higher education teaching makes sense when practice-oriented training of processes, applications or behaviors is required. We support these processes by offering trainings for teaching staff and tutors. In this way, we want to sensibilize teachers and tutors for the use of new technologies and inform them about possibilites, challenges and potentials.

If you are interested in a long-term implementation of VR technology in your teaching concept, we will be pleased to advise you or support you individually with your project.

Networking

The Labs act as a connector between the universities in central hesse. To support the exchange of experience and a change of perspective, the Labs coordinate the interdisciplinary and cross-university working group VR/AR.
