- The GGL provides an interdisciplinary, concisely structured graduate programme for all life science disciplines at the Justus Liebig University, in the fields of Human, Dental and Veterinary Medicine, Psychology and Sport Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Nutritional and Agricultural and Environmental Sciences. Based on our diversity of disciplines and nationalities, we have built a comprehensive concept for doctoral research where a topic-oriented doctoral project is embedded in the multidisciplinary research background of the GGL. We offer seminars, practical courses, research retreats and essential skills for academic and business careers.

- Wege in die Promotion - Save the Date

Most people interested in a doctoral degree ask similar questions: Where should I start? How do I finance my PhD-project and most importantly: Does a doctoral degree really match with my personal interests and plans?
Every year, the GGL joins forces with several graduate centres and organisations to give an overview of the many pathways to a doctoral degree at JLU and other universities in central Hesse. In “Wege in die Promotion 2026” we address topics such as supervision, financing and the local support network for doctoral candidates at the JLU. The event will be held in German on 25th June from from 1. 00 p.m. to 4. 30 p.m.

- 19th GGL Annual Conference - Save the Date
- The International Giessen Graduate Centre for the Life Sciences invites you to the 19th GGL Conference on 16 - 17 September, 2026 The GGL doctoral researchers of all interdisciplinary research sections will contribute to the programme and present their recent research results. Each session will be opened by a guest speaker who is an expert in the specific field. This year all GGL members will present short talks to introduce their research projects. Prizes which are donated by the GGL will be awarded in the categories best talk, best poster and best GGL picture.
- Graduation and Welcome Ceremony 2025
- Our warmest congratulations to our Graduating Class of 2025! We are happy that we could celebrate 39 new graduates in person during this beautiful ceremony. The ceremony was a great evening with many highlights including the festive handover of the certificates, the commencement speeches and the Welcome for 57 new GGL members. All new members of 2025 are also invited to be officially welcomed as new member during the ceremony.
