Everything you always wanted to know about the end of the world but were afraid to ask: Film discussion and workshop

How is humanity preparing for its impending demise? Ben Knight explores this question in his documentary film We're All Going to Die. The film offers a wonderfully thoughtful yet humorous look at our times, in which crises are countless and fears of climate collapse, global war, and the next pandemic are deeply ingrained in our consciousness.

We will show the film in cooperation with the Kinocenter Gießen. The film screening will be followed by a film discussion with Ben Knight, director and producer of the film. Part of our outreach activities, the event is aimed at a broad audience and seeks to bring academia and the city's public into dialogue. The film will be shown in English with German subtitles, and the discussion will be held in German and English.

As a follow-up to the screening on Wednesday, we have the opportunity to meet Ben Knight and our RCSC research fellow, Sebastian Pranz, to discuss questions at the interface of cultural studies and cultural production: How can we be resilient in the face of crisis? How can we 'answer' the challenges of a post-apocalyptic world? What are the politics of temporality? The workshop takes place on Novemer 27th and is open to all. See event here.
