Wolfgang Mittermaier Prize for outstanding achievements in academic teaching
In memory of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Mittermaier, Professor of Criminal Law at the University of Giessen from 1903 to 1933, the Erwin Stein Foundation endowed the Wolfgang Mittermaier Prize in 1995. The prize is awarded for outstanding achievements in academic teaching and is endowed with €3,000.
- Wolfgang Mittermaier courageously stood up for his students of Jewish descent against National Socialist pressure. The Wolfgang Mittermaier Prize is awarded for outstanding achievements in academic teaching at Justus Liebig University Giessen in Faculties 01-06. The right of nomination lies with the students, who are also represented on the board of trustees. All features of a course that have led to particularly good teaching success are eligible for consideration.
