Discussion on highly processed foods on Deutschlandfunk

Prof. Dr Mathias Fasshauer (Chair of Human Nutrition, ZNE, JLU) and Prof. Dr Thomas Henle (Chair of Food Chemistry, TU Dresden) took part in a discussion on the topic “Highly processed foods – how problematic are food additives?” as part of Deutschlandsfunk’s “Streitkultur” programme.

 

The episode addressed the following questions:

  • Are highly processed foods actually harmful to health?
  • How can these foods be defined and identified in the first place?
  • What studies are needed to assess their effects more reliably?
