Since the summer semester 2011, the foreign language courses offered by Foreign Languages in English, French, Italian and Spanish have been UNIcert®-accredited. *For up-to-date information/links please refer to the German website.*

UNIcert ® is a training, accreditation and certification system for foreign language teaching at universities, which is supported by the Arbeitskreis der Sprachzentren (AKS) and to which more than 50 universities in Germany belong. UNIcert ® sets quality standards for foreign language education and ensures that the level of competence of university language courses can be compared across universities. It is becoming increasingly important to have good foreign language skills for flexibility in studies, life, and employment, which often need to be proved by certificates.. With UNIcert ® you can obtain a standardized language certificate that is designed for all universities and is recognized nationwide. With UNIcert ® you can increase your chances when applying for internships, study positions and jobs.
UNIcert ® certificates are awarded at five levels (Basis, I, II, III, IV), which are based on the levels of the Common European Framework of Reference (CEFR) .

In order to acquire a UNIcert ® certificate, you must successfully complete the corresponding language courses at the ZfbK amounting to at least 4 hours/week.
The level you enter is determined by a placement test. Participation in the test is mandatory for cross-entry students.

**For UNIcert ® III (Legal English), no cross-entry is possible; attendance of all courses AND participation in the final exam are mandatory-
For the UNIcert ® exam we charge an exam fee of 40,- Euro (registration see below). This examination fee is settled by SEPA direct debit on the 15th or the end of the month in which the examination took place and collected from your account 14 days later.

After passing the UNIcert® exam, you will receive a certificate which you can pick up at the secretary's office of the ZfbK. You will be notified by e-mail as soon as your certificate is ready for collection.
