Cotutelle-Promotion/CMCRC-Scholarship

Cotutelle-Promotion in Finance, Justus-Liebig-University Giessen and Macquarie University, Sydney, combined with a CMCRC scholarship

Since 2018, the Chair BWL VI offers a joint doctoral opportunity with Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia. As part of a Cotutelle-Promotion, two doctoral degrees are awarded: PhD and Dr. rer. pol. The PhD students are integrated into an excellent research environment in the field of finance at both universities, which provides a detailed introduction to the research activity through customized online courses as well as extensive data access. In addition, the PhD students receive a scholarship from the Capital Markets Cooperative Research Centre (CMCRC), Australia's leading research centre in the field of capital markets research. As part of the scholarship, each PhD candidate is supported by a partner from the financial industry who advises the research work from a current practical perspective. Since its foundation in 2001, more than 130 doctoral students have successfully completed the cooperation program with the CMCRC. Current practice partners of the CMCRC include Nasdaq (Sydney, Washington, London), Northwest Investment Management (Hong Kong), Financial Conduct Authority (London), Ontario Securities Commission (Toronto), Deutsche Bank (Hong Kong), Thomson Reuters (London) oder Macquarie Bank (Sydney).

The Chair of BWL VI is pleased to announce that Christian Neumeier started the joint Cotutelle-CMCRC program with Macquarie University in May 2018 as the first PhD student from Giessen.
