DAAD Prize

Every year, JLU awards a DAAD prize for special social commitment and outstanding achievements by international students.

The prize money amounts to 1,000 euros, and the German Academic Exchange Service makes it available to German universities.

The prize is expressly intended to recognize not only special academic achievements but also remarkable social, societal, and/or cultural commitment on the part of students. Young graduates (graduation should not be more than three months ago at the time of the award ceremony) and young doctoral students can also be nominated, but academic recognition of a doctoral thesis is excluded. Foreign students, DAAD scholarship holders, and publicly funded scholarship holders cannot be nominated for the DAAD Prize.

Informal nominations, which should include a justification with an appreciation of both criteria and the curriculum vitae of the nominee, are requested to be submitted to the president of JLU by July 15 of each year. The award ceremony takes place during the Academic Ceremony in November. For further information, please contact the International Office, Ms. Jessica Wilzek, Tel.: 0641/99-12174.
