Thesis abstract

This phd project aims at analysing the political refoundational scene that unfolds during the peace dialogues between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia – the People's Army (FARC-EP) from 2012 to 2016. Three central and inseparable analytical dimensions of this political scene will be examined: (a) the opening of the space of dialogue, its institution, structuring and reconfiguration in the designated period; (b) the way in which the parties (the government, the FARC-EP, the civil society and the guarantor and accompanying countries) appeared and interconnected with each other over those years through their speeches and actions; and (c) the dispute over the meanings of justice in the debates regarding point five of the peace agreement: „Agreement on the victims of the conflict“. The research seeks not only to problematize the political specificity of the peace process in Colombia, but also to contribute to the knowledge about the processes that aim at finding political answers to the experience of long periods of extreme violence, and to lay - through dialogue - the basis for a new democratic coexistence.
