Urs studied chemistry at the Albert-Ludwigs University in Freiburg. After receiving his diploma in 2009, he started his PhD studies under the guidance of Prof. Bernhard Breit working in the field of supramolecular ligands. In 2013, Urs graduated and then moved in early 2014 to Israel to join the group of Prof. David Milstein at the Weizmann Institute of Science in Rehovot as PostDoc Fellow. The research work focused on the theoretical and experimental examination of various aspects of transition metal catalyzed reactions and novel modes of bond activation.
Since 2024 Universität Hohenheim Institut of Organic Chemistry

The group is focused on the development of new synthetic methodologies in organic chemistry, which can be applied for the modulation of biological processes. Three main fields are studied. Organocatalysis (the development of enantioselective organocatalysts). Semi-metal catalysis (the development of silicon-based Lewis acid catalysts). Transition-metal catalysis (the development of enzyme like catalysts/ C-H functionalisations of alkanes). |
