Research

Research interests at the JLU Giessen Department of Agrobioinformatics cover various aspects of crop genomics, bioinformatics and computational biology.

We develop bioinformatics methods tailored to the analysis of complex crop genomes and use modern genome sequence data to uncover genomic variants important for crop improvement. We have a strong interest in pangenomics and study structural variation and its effect on genes, their regulation and impact on important agronomic traits.

Professorship for Agrobioinformatics is supported by HMWK LOEWE Professorship Program
