“Leibspeise 2.0”: Tea for the soul, pasta for the stomach and chocolate for well-being

Not all students have the opportunity to travel home for the holidays and New Year. In addition, many students are very short of money and, despite having part-time jobs, can barely make ends meet. Against this backdrop, the Giessen University Society (GHG) would like to give students a little treat at the end of the year as a gesture of solidarity.

The GHG is building on the successful “Leibspeise” (“My favourite food”) campaign from 2022 and has launched “Leibspeise 2.0”: its members have packed 500 cloth bags with food – enough for several hot meals over the New Year period. Each bag contains rice, spaghetti, durum wheat pasta, tomato sauce, corn, pesto, garlic and apple juice, herbal tea and a bar of chocolate for comfort.

Students who would like to receive this support can pick up a bag free of charge on Tuesday, 30 December 2025, between 10:00 and 11:30 a.m. – while supplies last – at the Hermann-Hoffmann-Akademie, Senckenbergstraße 17, in Giessen. Pick-up is via the main entrance – near the two dinosaurs.

The GHG sees itself as a society that promotes togetherness and supports students in Giessen so that they can successfully devote themselves to their studies and carry the name of the university city of Giessen out into the world.
