About JLU
Justus Liebig University Giessen
Founded in 1607, Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) has currently around 25,000 students. The university is located in the city of Giessen on the River Lahn, a city with a particularly young population. The university offers its researchers ideal conditions for interdisciplinary collaboration, especially with its range of subjects in the life sciences, which is unique in Germany. These include human and veterinary medicine as well as agricultural, environmental, nutritional and food sciences. This makes JLU a leading location for 'One Health' research, which addresses global challenges at the interface of health, environment and nutrition. JLU's three areas of excellence in perception, heart-lung and battery research make JLU one of the most successful universities in the German federal and state excellence strategy. In addition, the university is actively committed to its societal responsibility. A significant proportion of its student body is pursuing a state examination, thereby contributing to the future workforce in fields such as education, law, medicine and veterinary science.
Study
JLU's diverse range of courses includes over 100 degree programs and offers unique subject constellations.
