Master Thesis (WS/SS)

Master Thesis in the field of Technology, Innovation and Start-up Management

The Master's thesis at the Chair of Business Administration X aims to enable students to independently design and conduct a scientific study in the field of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship. The task is to become familiar with a current research question, work on the literature review, and derive and empirically test a conceptual model independently.

Each student has the opportunity to choose preferences from a list of available Master's thesis topics. Alternatively, it is possible to suggest one's own topic for the Master's thesis. After registering centrally on Stud.ip, students can submit a proposal to the contact person listed below until two weeks before the kickoff. The proposal should include the research title, research question, research gap (based on existing literature), and initial ideas regarding the conceptual model and the planned empirical work. The submitted proposals will be considered in the selection of topics by the Chair. However, submitting a proposal does not guarantee that one will be assigned this topic for the Master's thesis.

The processing time in the four-semester Master's programs is 180 days. According to §12 of the specific admission regulations at the time of admission, the following requirements must be met for admission to the thesis in the 120 CP Master's programs:

  • A successfully completed seminar within the scope of the Master's program
  • Completed modules with a total of 60 credit points
  • Existing entitlement to take examinations

Master Thesis at the Department BWL X.

If you have been selected to write your master's thesis at our chair, you will receive a list of all potential topics during the kickoff event. After that, you will have the opportunity to rank the topics according to your preference. Our chair team will try to take these preferences into account as best as possible when assigning topics.

We recommend writing the master's thesis at the chair where the seminar paper was written, as this allows for early involvement in the respective research and project work of the chair.
