Erasmus+ exchange students
As (prospective) exchange student at Faculty 03 - Social Sciences and Cultural Studies, please take the following procedures into account to prepare your semester:

Application |
After you have been selected by and nominated from your home university, you will receive further instructions via email on how to apply to Justus Liebig University. Please apply in due time with the online portal until 15.06. (winter semester) and 15.12. (summer semester).
During the online application you can also arrange for accommodation in the halls of residence and for the preparatory language and culture course (International Summer or Spring Course) right before the semester starts. We highly recommend participating to brush up your German and to get acquainted with Giessen and its surroundings.
The second step in order to apply specifically for studying at Faculty 03 (Education Science, Art Pedagogy, Music Pedagogy, Musicology, Political Science, Sociology, Social Science) is to send us the following documents via email:

Arrival and during the semester |
One Week before the semester commences you will be able to enrol to JLU Giessen during the Info-Tisch. There you will be supported in getting started with necessary steps to the local authorities with immatriculation/ registering at the university, health insurance, registering with the municipality etc. In the same week we, as your faculty coordinators, will host a welcome meeting for all new incoming exchange students who will study at Faculty 03. We will inform you about course selection, the procedures during the semester, databases and platforms that are used at the faculty and help you with any questions that you come across with. As your faculty coordinators we will be your first contact for questions or doubts that you have during your studies and you can drop by our office any time (for bigger queries, please come by our open office hours).

Departure |
Before your departure, please make sure to communicate with your teachers that they insert your grade into Flexnow, if you need your Transcript of Records (ToR) early. After all grades have been inserted, we can produce the ToR and send it to you (and your home institution upon request). If you need a Certificate of Departure or Certificate of Stay, please visit us in our office hours.
Also keep in mind all administrative procedures that you have been informed about in the welcome session (withdraw your immatriculation, deregister at the municipality, give back the keys and cancel your rent contract).
